How to select a design in code catalogue and use it within ArtiCAD-Pro

This article will run through how to select a design in code catalogue in ArtiCAD-Pro as well as create a design using your chosen suppliers catalogue.

Once you have installed the required design in code catalogue(s) into your ArtiCAD system, you'll need to select 'Catalogue' at the top of the design screen and click on 'Select Catalogue(s)...'

In the box that appears, you'll see all available catalogues in a list to the left. These are design in code catalogues you have installed into your ArtiCAD system. To select a catalogue, simply double click on it to move the catalogue from the list on the left, to the Selected Catalogues list on the right (or select the catalogue, click on 'Add' and it will move it across to the right).

Next, click on 'OK'. This will now replace the ArtiCAD generic library with your chosen manufacturers library.

Next you'll need to select a door range from your chosen manufacturers catalogue. Some design in code catalogues will prompt you to pick a door range as soon as you click on 'OK' to the select catalogues box. If a prompt doesn't appear, click on 'Doors' at the top of the design screen and choose your door, handles and handle locations.

Once you have selected your door and handles, click on 'OK' to all remaining boxes. You are now ready to start your design.

There are 3 ways to design with manufacturers codes. The first and easiest way is to input a unit code into the commands box at the top. For this you need to select the correct layer on the right, type in a unit code into the commands box and press enter.

The second way is to filter through the layered menu on the right-hand side and add units into a plan from there.

The third way is to use the search box within the layered menu. You will have to be quite specific with this as what ever you type into this box will bring up everything that has a slight match. Once you have found something in the list, double click on the description and ArtiCAD will add it into your design.

Tip:  You can still access parts of the ArtiCAD generic library such as lighting and accessories by going through the layered menu on the left or typing in the shortcut code into the commands box at the top

If you want to change the labels that are attached to each unit in your plan, simply go to 'View' at the top of the ArtiCAD design screen and select 'Plan Options'. Make sure 'Include Labels' is ticked and click on 'Settings' to the left of it.

Here you can choose between numeric index (numbers), design code (manufacturers unit codes) or pricing code (manufacturers pricing code). Some manufacturers unit codes will change depending on what child items have been added on to that unit. For example, with the chosen catalogue in this article, if a replacement left or right end panel has been added to a unit, the code will change to reflect this so it is then priced correctly.
