An unexpected exception has occurred, shutting down the application

1. Please ensure that you are on the latest version of Windows.

2. Locate the 'C:Drive' or 'Local Disk C'. This can be done by clicking on File Explorer at the bottom of your screen. (If your ArtiCAD system is stored in a different location, please navigate to this folder)

3. Within your C:Drive there will be a folder called 'articad'.

4. Within the 'articad' folder you will see a folder for 'Installations'.

5. Within the Installations folder will be a folder for 'Direct3D', double click to open this folder.

6. Within the ‘Direct3D’ folder will be a file for 'DX Set Up' – open this.

7. Accept the agreement and allow to run.

8. When complete, try and open ArtiCAD.

If that method does not work, please try the below.

1. Locate the C:Drive (or the location where ArtiCAD is stored).

2. Find the ‘articad’ folder.

3. Scroll down in the folder to find the 'vc' files (listed below)

4. Left click on the top one, hold shift on your keyboard and then left click on the bottom one to highlight them all at once.

5. Right click on the highlighted section and select ‘Run as administrator’

NOTE – A pop up message may appear saying "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?", if this occurs, please click Yes.

Each file will either give you one of the following options:

- Repair or Remove/Uninstall - If you get this option, please select Repair.
- Install - If you get this option, please select Install.
- Close - On the ‘vc2010’ files, a message may appear saying “Please resolve the following, there is already a newer instance installed” - you can click close on this and ignore it.
